Day 21 Baby!

I made it!!!! I actually completed the entire detox! Last night I really wanted to give in and go get some Frozen Yogurt.. But I didn't!

I weighed myself when I got up this morning, and I lost a total of 5 lbs! Extremely happy with that! 10 lbs to go and then I will be at my goal weight!

I'm really hoping that this detox puts me on the right path for better eating. I don't want to fall off the wagon again. I am going to do the detox one more time in February, but that one is going to be rough. I am visiting my family one weekend, the next weekend my mom is coming to visit, and it's Valentine's Day where I guarantee I will get a lot of treats from my students. So, we will see how it goes.

I haven't had sugar in my coffee for 21 days, and this morning I am tempted to put some coconut sugar in and see how I it tastes. I have actually started to really enjoy my coffee with just half and half. Who knew??

I am also going to meal plan for this week like I have the last 21 days.. But I may add some black beans to one of my meals this week! Yumm!!

3 Days To Go!!

I'm almost there! Just have to make it through the weekend!

The last two days I have had great detox days! No slip ups, or temptations! I am excited to finish the detox, and have decided to also do the February detox. That gives me about 6 days off before I start the second round!

I also haven't weighed myself since the detox started, and I am excited and nervous to see what the scale says. I know this detox isn't supposed to be about weight.. But let's be honest.. Deep down that's what everyone is is hoping for!

I planned out my malf marathon training last night! Woo hoo! It's really happening. I get paid tomorrow.. And I am going to sign up for it! It's really going to happen!

I need to start researching how to fuel my body for the training. I don't want to super carb load.. But I also want this to go as smoothly as possible! I think Monday I will get in a run around the loop.. 3 miles at a super easy pace!

I am excited that tomorrow is Friday! That was a quick week!

Big Fat Fail!

Well.. Today I had my first big mess up. I'm not ending very strong. Today I had an away game in Lapine, 5 hours away. I packed food in hopes that I would be able to make it all day without temptations.

My Jv team won! Yey! Varsity had a bad loss. Throughout the entire game I was starving! Well they fed us.. Spaghetti and salad and cookies.. I had all three:( boo! I even had food to eat.. But nothing sounded good cold. So I caved.

Well, it's over and done with now.. I plan on finishing out the rest of the week strong!

Oh another note.. I have decided that I am going to do a half marathon at the end of May! Which means I will start training right after basketball season is over! I am excited and nervous! I hope I can do it! And will be able to stick to it!

That is one thing I will say I have learned during the detox.. That I do have enough will power to get through something. I feel like that is what eating clean and workout out takes, is a strong mind and will power!

In the book world.. I have finished the first book in Outlander, and have started the second!

End of week 2!

I am on my last day of week 2! One more week to go! I wish I could say that I have been noticing these amazing changes.. But I haven't. We aren't supposed to weigh ourselves till the end, so I'm not even sure if I've lost anything.

I will say tho.. The one thing I have gotten from this is will power, and the knowledge that I can stick with something!

In 14 days I have had a few hiccups: the coffee bean, I bite of cookie dough, and some hash browns.

On Friday I started my morning strong at the coffee shop by asking her not to put the coffee bean on my coffee.. I made it through lunch without any temptation, and then the temptations began! After basketball games there is a team dinner. Well the dinner consisted of a mexican casserole, spanish rice, salad, and for desert brownie pie. I took my own apple and only ate the salad! And man that mexican food looked delicious!

I then get home and my sister is in the process of making cookies! That's when i consciously made the decision to have just one bite of cookie dough. I then had some apple sauce with almond milk and was fine!!

Then last night I went to team
Bonding with my basketball team. They chose a Chinese restaurant that also served American food, and surprisingly they also served breakfast all day! I figured breakfast would be the safest choice so I got an omelette. Knowing it would come with toast I told the waitress that I didn't want any.. But totally forgot about the hash browns. They came out with the omelette.. And I ate about half of them. I then made it through bowling with no problems:)

I am currently contemplating if I want to do one more round after this one. I would probably have a day where I can eat something sweet(I think I will choose frozen yogurt:) and then start the next day. The second round though, I need to find out why I'm having bathroom issues (TMI.. Sorry!) and to really limit my fruit like I'm supposed to. We will see!

In the busy basketball life: I leave for lapine on Tuesday! The bus leaves at 8:45! That is going to be a long day! But I am so excited to see everyone that is coming to watch my game!

I will be finishing off my weekend laying around, watching movies, and making a puzzle:)

Day 10!

I have made it 10 days without sugar! The only thing that I have had is one coffee bean that they put on top of my americano. This week has been a lot smoother! Two home games, and I am actually prepared in my classroom. I have all my lesson plans, copies, and sub plans for next week done! Whoop whoop!

I am really enjoying this detox, believe it or not! I feel so strong mentally being able to stick to it! I can never fully stick to a plan! However, during the detox you can only have one piece of fruit a day(either a green apple or green-tipped banana) and some days I have my apple and a "not so sweet treat" that is either made up of a banana or apple. I don't really feel guilty for it tho.

On Sunday I made a bunch of artichoke chicken that has lasted me for lunch and dinner until today's lunch! I don't mind eating the same thing at all! If it means j don't have to cook or clean up my dinner mess! I had a bacon omelete tonight for dinner, and figure I'll pack cheese, salami. And apple sauce for lunch tomorrow!

I'm watching one last episode on Netflix and then am going to sleep!

So Many Temptations!!

I can not believe how many temptations that I had throughout the day! Started at noon in the staff lounge. Homemade chocolate covered peanut clusters, flavored pretzels, and scones that apparently were delicious because the entire school was raving about it! I turned down all THREE! I got kind of hungry this afternoon and when I got home there were cookies my sister had made. I contemplated taking just ONE BITE.. but instead put them out of sight.

Out of sight out of mind right??

I got a workout in, upper fix. It's depressing how much weaker I am now than I was when I was working out consistently. Once basketball is over I'm determined to get on a schedule again!
Dinner tonight was salad with balsamic vinigar and olive oil, cottage cheese, and artichoke chicken! I also had artichoke chicken for lunch;)

Now I'm going to have some desert: n'oatmeal!

Tomorrow Is Monday Already??

I made it successfully through my weekend on the detox! Weekends have always been my weakness.. And I definitely struggled a little bit yesterday, wanting to have something sweet and yummy.. But I didn't!

My favorite part of my weekend is doing NOTHING! And this one was much needed after the long week! I spent yesterday sleeping in.. Watching netflix.. Grocery shopping.. And then binge watching the Outlander TV show! So good! Today I had basketball practice, and then food prepped and now finishing my night off with a movie.

I feel like I should feel guilty because I had plenty of time to workout this weekend and didn't, but I don't. I depend on my weekends to basically lay around and prepare for the next week. I got two workouts in last week.. And am hoping for about the same this week, maybe 3.

I made some delicious biscuits.
N'oatmeal. Stinking good!

I also made "brownies".. Meh.. They aren't that great, but I hope they become more tasty throughout the week. I also tried one of the smoothies that had avacado in it and really enjoyed it!

Oh! And I made "granola" it is good as well!

It's sad to say, but I am already looking forward to the long weekend next weekend! Here's to a great week!

TGIF

I think I left my brain at Christmas break.. This week has been one of the most forgetful weeks since I started teaching! I topped it off with forgetting my wallet on my basketball trip. Good thing I packed all my food.. And besides.. I can't eat anything from my options anyways! I did go to the concession stand and get a cup of ice and filled it with water!

I am currently still on the bus.. Just left the basketball game (where we got creamed.. jv and varsity) and still have to stop for food. I am cranky and tired and ready to be home.

My eating was perfect again today! Eggs for breakfast.. Salad from figaros that had chicken, lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, and guacamole with oil and vinigar.. Dinner I had meat and cheese. I have some more food left over incase I get hungry.

This post is short and sweet! I am determined to successfully make it through the weekend! That is where I got hung up last time I did the detox!

Day 4 is in the bag!!

Made it through another day! School and practice! Tonight at practice I decided that I would just get my workout in there. So while the girls were stretching I did sprints down and back.. I didn't count, but there were a lot! Then I did conditioning with the girls.. Two sets of lines and sweet 16s. Then I ran 5 more down and backs during a drill.. And then finished with ALOT of sprints with the girls. I think I am going to start doing that more often!

For breakfast I had my usual eggs, lunch I had leftover chicken strips and a banana (banana is 1 of 2 fruits I am aloud to have on the 21DSD.. But it has to be green. I think mine may have been a couple days past green.. But I am not going to fret over it) and dinner I had more leftover chicken strips, protein pancakes with an egg, and some apple sauce with unsweetened almond milk:)
Bullet proof coffee this morning.. It wasn't as good as I was hoping it would be.. That's the only thing I'm missing during this.. Is yummier coffee.

Tomorrow is ANOTHER long day with an away game. But then it's Saturday!:))

Another Long Day

YuThis week is kicking my butt! It's 7:30 and I am already in bed. Nothing too eventful happened today.. School and then practice. 1st graders to Freshman and Sophomores.

My diet was on point again today! Eggs for breakfast, leftovers and an apple for lunch, almonds for a snack, and then chicken strips and BBQ sauce for dinner.
Chicken rolled in coconut milk and hot sauce and then rolled in almond flour and arrowroot flour with seasonings! And my BBQ sauce!

I don't get home from practice until 6 o'clock.. And after making dinner and not eating until 7 there was no way I was going to get a workout in! Especially after not getting home from the game until 11:30 last night.

I am hoping to get to an insanity class tomorrow night at 6:30.. I really hope I have enough energy to get there! Wish me luck!

A Blog From a Bus

Today was a long one... And it's not even over yet. I am currently writing from a school bus with 21 players, and I am the only coach... Going to be a long 2 1/2 hours home. I find myself being the cranky coach on the way home.. Because I just want to get home to my bed!

However, the basketball games were pretty exciting! Well.. Varsity was exciting.. My JV team lost bad. But varsity won with a buzzer beater shot with 4 seconds left on the clock and the ball being passed in at the other end of the court. It was nuts!!

I mentioned in my last post that I had to eat 3 meals from my lunch box today.. And I did successfully! For breakfast I had 3 eggs. Lunch was leftover chicken, green peppers, and cauliflower mashed potatoes. For dinner I had to get creative since I didn't have a way to heat it up. I packed two left over hamburger patties from last night, pumpkin pancakes, a and an apple!

On the way home we have to stop at
McDonalds so the players can eat,, gag me with a spoon. Not my choice to stop.. But the ice cream is always tempting to me. But I will definitely turn it down! I have already turned down cupcakes from a player! (I am writing this as we pull into McDonalds).

Overall it was a good day in the eating category! I'll hopefully get a workout in tomorrow after practice.. If I'm not too tired!
I will now be plugging in my audiobook (Outlander.. So freaking good!)

Happy Monday Back to School From Break!

Well today was definitely a Monday! I started it off with 6:15 am basketball practice.. Which was rough. Then while
changing for school I ripped out the seam in my pants!! I live 30 minutes from school and didn't have time to go get a different pair.. So with my boots and shirt today I ended up wearing running pants.. That was fun..
I felt a little behind in my classroom all day.. Not as prepared as normal... Got a new student 5 minutes before the kids came up from breakfast.. Didn't have enough copies for everyone then.. Or computers for small groups.. Etc. But I made it through! Annnddd I followed the detox program completely and on top of that I even worked out and had a DELICIOUS  dinner!
Decided I am going to complete the 21 day fix beachbody workout program during my detox! Total Body Cardio Fix!
JalapeƱo bacon cheese burger with lettuce for bun, onion, and my homemade BBQ sauce! And cauliflower mashed potatoes! SO GOOD!!!

I did get a little hungry around 3.. But didn't have a snack handy, so I waited until I got home. But then was filled up with water from my workout and made it until dinner!

Overall it was a good day! I am all prepped and ready for another LONG day tomorrow! Away game 3 hours away. All three of my meals will be out of my lunch box! Wish me luck!

My Very First Blog Post!:) Ready For This Fun Adventure!!

Welcome to my first blog post! I was some-what talked into this in order to keep me motivated and accountable while I complete the 21-Day Sugar Detox.. more on that later.

Little bit about myself.. I am a crazy busy first year first grade teacher and JV girls basketball coach in a brand new city, school, and community. Over the last year I have slowly gotten into working out more, eating better, and trying to live a healthier life style. Since school started in September my working out slowly started to tapper off, and my diet has gotten worse throughout the year. The month of December was especially bad in the healthy life style department.

This has lead me to doing the 21 Day Sugar Detox (21DSD) program.. Which, have I mentioned I attempted and FAILED in November. This time.. I am determined! Throughout the month of December I knew that after the holidays I was going to need to change something, or I was going to really regret it.

So.. here I am, the day before day 1 of the 21DSD, writing a blog post about this journey.

Today I decided to sleep in and enjoy my bed for as long as possible, even though I knew it would most likely make sleeping tonight nearly impossible. Over the weekend I had made a grocery list and meal plan to get me through the week. When I finally rolled outta bed I made it to Fred Meyers and got everything I needed to prepare for the week.

Once I got home the prepping began. I made sugar free apple sauce, bone broth, BBQ sauce (which required carmelized onions that were delicious!), and pumpkin pancakes. All of these are sugar free and gluten free.

It is now time to get ready for tomorrow. I need to make dinner (which will be lunch for tomorrow), write my parent letter, and pack my clothes for after my 6 am basketball practice tomorrow (YUCK).
Sugar free BBQ sauce. Freezing the container on the right.

Carmelized onions for the BBQ sauce, so delicious!

Sugar free apple sauce!
